Job Description

Griffith University’s School of Medicine and Dentistry is currently seeking a highly qualified academic practitioner to support the School’s educational mission in relation to paramedicine. The successful applicant will work in a small team of academic paramedics and contribute to the development and delivery of the School’s Bachelor of Paramedicine program, as well as to scholarship and research in the areas of out of hospital care and paramedicine education.

Depending on the educational qualifications and professional background of the successful candidate, the successful candidate may be appointed at either Lecturer Level B or Senior Lecturer Level C.

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), continuing position based at the Gold Coast campus and it is expected that the successful candidate will be available to attend campus in person as a normal requirement of the role.

Griffith is a multi-campus university and therefore it is understood that this position will work across campuses as/if required. As such, you may be required to work on either a temporary or an indefinite basis at any location where the University has a presence.

Salary Range

The base salary for Lecturer (Level B) is in the range $105,144 - $124,862 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $123,019 - $146,089 per annum.

The base salary for Senior Lecturer (Level C) is in the range $128,802 - $148,520 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $150,698 - $173,768 per annum.

About You

To be successful within this role, you will possess a doctoral qualification, or significant progress towards completion of a doctoral degree in relevant discipline or field, or a masters degree in a relevant field or working towards the completion of a masters degree. A bachelors level qualification may be considered for the Level B position.

Experience in the development of curriculum and learning and assessment activities in paramedicine education combined with the capacity to undertake research and scholarship activity in fields related to paramedicine or paramedicine education will be essential. Applicants should also possess extensive experience in paramedic practice at Advanced Life Support level (or equivalent) or higher qualification. Registration as a paramedic with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency Paramedicine Board is highly desirable.

You will need to possess the demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with paramedicine practitioners, out of hospital care agencies and other related organisations to ensure the ongoing availability of practical training opportunities for paramedicine students and that the outcomes of the School’s paramedicine programs continue to meet employer needs. In doing so, you will be expected to contribute to the development of meaningful and impactful partnerships with the broader community by actively engaging and collaborating with external stakeholders.
