Lecturer Level B (Paramedicine)

This is a full-time continuing position (Teaching and Research) at Academic B, $101,598 – $124,457 plus 17% superannuation working 36.75 (1 FTE) hours per week.

About the role

The overall purpose of the position of Lecturer in Paramedicine is to make significant contributions to teaching of clinical skills and professional practicum components in the undergraduate Paramedicine program and to contribute to the College through academic relevant administrative activities. At this level, as a leading academic, they are also expected to play a role in scholarship, professional and research activities.

The Lecturer will act as Clinical Course Chair. In addition, they will act as a unit convenor, which involves the preparation of materials, curriculum design and teaching in discipline-based College undergraduate units. As Clinical Course Chair, they are a key focal point for students, internal and external stakeholders with the administration and coordinator and will have supervisory responsibilities for sessional staffing in clinical and simulation laboratory workshops.

The successful incumbent will be someone with energy who is innovative, progressive and collaborative in the way they work. They will be an excellent communicator who interacts well with others across the College and the University. The Lecturer in Paramedicine will contribute to the strength of the discipline of Paramedicine within the University by collaborating with Paramedicine staff across the First Year College and in the College of Health, Sport, Engineering and Built Environments in both teaching and research activities.

Duties

  • Work with Paramedicine and relevant other staff to develop high-quality materials to teach and convene units in the undergraduate program;
  • Participate in administrative duties and academic leadership relating to Clinical Course Chair, unit convenor, attend discipline and college meetings and/or membership of external partnership committees and/or working groups.
  • As Clinical Course Chair, act as focal point for internal and external stakeholders in the administration of work-integrated learning (WIL) which addresses the AHPRA Paramedicine Board of Australia accreditation standards
  • Independently prepare and deliver curriculum content, including unit coordination, marking, assessment and consultation with students.
  • Develop and enhance clinical partnerships with developing relationships, supporting preceptors/practice educators and students
