Pre-employment Program


Transition from university to the workforce with confidence

The College’s Pre-employment Program offers newly graduated or nearly graduated students the opportunity to transition from university to the workforce with support and guidance from experts and professionals in paramedicine. To commence the Graduate Year of Practice Program, this low-commitment, highly interactive, and supportive program runs for four weeks.

Program highlights:

Duration: Four weeks. Our Pre-employment Program offers rolling enrolments, so you can start whenever you’re ready.

Learning Mode: 100% online: Self-paced material plus two live sessions. Student-centred online learning.

Suitable for:

  • Students nearing graduation
  • Recently graduated students entering employment for the first time
  • Those wanting to brush up on their skills and learn more about professional paramedic practice, as well as students and graduates about too, or transitioning to jobs

Open to: To be eligible for enrolment, participants need to have a current full College membership (i.e. Member, Associate or Student Membership+ ).

  • Interview techniques
  • Preparing for your first shift
  • Understanding human factors
  • Recognising and preventing burnout.

Grad Start Program


Build a strong foundation for your paramedic career

The Grad Start Program provides essential support and guidance for graduates as they begin their careers. This program is ideally suited to those who have recently started working in the profession but can also be undertaken by those not yet employed or on a merit list.

Participants will build confidence and gain a thorough understanding of their professional responsibilities, helping them transition smoothly into a wide range of paramedic roles.

Program highlights:

Duration: Learners have up to 12 weeks to complete the course.

Learning Mode: 100% online: Self-paced material including interactive case-based learning, plus optional monthly live sessions.

Suitable for:

  • Recent paramedicine graduates
  • Paramedicine graduates in early employment
  • Those waiting for employment

Open to: To be eligible for enrolment, you need to have a current full College membership (i.e. Member or Associate membership) and have completed an approved study program. Graduates looking to work in various paramedic settings, including jurisdictional ambulance services, NGOs, private companies, industrial and mining sectors, humanitarian and disaster response, community, and primary healthcare.

  • Professional standards and ethics
  • Communication and teamwork
  • Managing challenging situations
  • Career pathways across various sectors

Throughout the program, participants can interact with College education specialists for support, advice, and to discuss any concerns or challenges. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate and a digital badge, recognising your readiness for the next step in their paramedic careers.

Continuing Clinical Practice


Develop your clinical practice

Enrolments for the Continuing Clinical Practice program are currently closed. This revised component of the Graduate Year of Practice program will launch in April 2026. This self-paced online course is the final phase of the Graduate Year of Practice, designed for paramedics who have recently started working and are seeking to consolidate their knowledge and skills in real-world settings. The program places strong emphasis on clinical learning, enabling participants to deepen their clinical reasoning, refine patient assessment and management skills, and apply best-practice approaches across diverse situations.

Duration: Learners have up to 12 weeks to complete the course. Extensions are available for those needing extra time.

Learning mode: 100% online: Self-paced material, including interactive case-based learning, plus optional monthly live sessions.

Suitable for:

  • Applied Practice alumni or graduates in their first year of practice (6-12 months).
  • Open to all graduates looking to work in the paramedic profession, including those in state ambulance services, NGOs, private companies, industrial and mining sectors, humanitarian and disaster response, community, and primary healthcare.

Open to: to be eligible for enrolment, participants need to have a current full College membership (i.e. Member or Associate membership) and Ahpra or Te Kaunihera Manapou registration.

Areas of focus include:

  • Clinical decision-making
  • Patient safety
  • Interprofessional collaboration
  • Reflective practice
  • Adaption to complex, evolving clinical environments

Learners can also access regular support from College education specialists to discuss clinical challenges, receive feedback, and gain practical advice. Upon completion, graduates will be awarded a certificate and a digital badge, recognising their advanced preparedness for professional paramedic practice.

Paramedic Preceptor Program


Empower the next generation of paramedics

Our self-paced, pay-as-you-go Paramedic Preceptor Program is created exclusively for paramedics. Unlike generic courses, this program is built from the ground up to reflect the realities of paramedic practice—the pressures, the decisions, and the opportunities you navigate on every shift.

Developed by experienced paramedic educators, these modules offer real-world, industry informed strategies that make a difference in practice. Collect a certificate for each unit along the way, and complete two core modules and four electives to receive your full program certificate.

This program isn’t only for those supporting students and graduates—it’s also tailored for preceptors who guide experienced clinicians as they step into new roles or specialities. Whether you’re shaping the next generation or helping peers’ transition, you’ll build the skills to teach, coach, lead, and inspire where it matters most.

Duration: Modules are accessible for 2 months from the time of enrolment; more than one module can be undertaken concurrently.

Learning mode: 100% online: Self paced modules, available to purchase individually, enabling preceptors to undertake modules most relevant to their personal learning objectives while still working.

Suitable for:

  • Paramedics who support, educate, mentor, and coach students and graduate paramedics.
  • Suitable for both new and experienced preceptors.

Open to: to be eligible for enrolment, participants need to have a current full College membership (i.e. Member or Associate membership) and Ahpra or Te Kaunihera Manapou registration.

A certificate of completion will be issued for each module completed, and for those who complete the two (2) core modules plus four (4) elective modules, a certificate of completion for the complete Paramedic Preceptor Program will be awarded.
