Acknowledging 50 years of the College

Today we acknowledge the 50th anniversary of the formation of the College. Commencing in 1973 as the Institute of Ambulance Officers (Australia), we have evolved over the years to become the Australasian College of Paramedicine, championing and supporting the paramedic profession along the way.

The inaugural meeting of the Institute was held in Canberra at the Academy of Science on 30 July 1973. This meeting was to become the first Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Ambulance Officers (Australia). Over time, as branches (or chapters) were established in each state and territory of Australia and the Aotearoa New Zealand chapter was formed in 2011, the organisation matured into the vibrant professional body we see today.

We look forward to celebrating our 50th Anniversary milestone at our international conference (ACPIC23) to be held in Melbourne from the 13-15 September and hope you will come along and be part of this wonderful event.
